The first weekend of May was Begegnungsfest on the Peissnitz which is a big red cross event. As I work at a red cross hort some kids were singing at the festival and I was accompanying the kids on piano. The main problem was that they didn't have any piano music so I had to improvise what I was playing but it all worked out ok in the end. My mum came to visit me which was nice as I could be a tourist again in Halle: We went to the Landes museum, botanical gardens and on a boat trip along the Saale. The weekend after other friends visited from our seminar and we had a eurovision party. We also joined a running group which is designed to integrate refugees into society, after this run we decided to sign up for Hamburg half marathon which was a bit of an odd impulse buy but hopefully will be worth it. We also had an english sunday which of course included a full roast and apple crumble, I hadn't realised how much I'd missed typical english food. Again in May we had holiday time in the Hort which included activities such as buidling wooded cars and collecting wild herbs to make tea. I did my tandem trip to Woerlitz with the University which was really good - the whole day including transport only cost 5 euros and we went on a gondola tour around this large lake in amazing gardens and I spoke lots of German which was of course the point of the exercise. My project this month included a weather booklet and learning the grand old duke of York,
