April: A journey to India
After ' travelling' to Europe and America, we decided that India would be our next destination, since it is a country with a fascinating culture.
We started by making pendants, by mixing bicorbonate of soda, cornstarch and water. We then used the dough to create circular pendants and we carved them with different indian symbols. Some examples are the lotus flower, which represents creation, the Om, which symbolises the universe and reality, and the Trishula, which represents the balance between the power of creation, preservation and distraction.
Our next craft was the creation of elephants. Firstly,we cut the body of the elephant out of cardboard and we painted it in various colours. We then used pegs for the legs and for creating the figures.
Our last craft was a picture of a peacock, where we used flowers, chalk, lentils and coloured sand. I choose the peacock because it is the national birds of India.
We conclude our monthly journeys by preparing a traditional dish. This month we choose to make vegeterian curry . Our ingredients included cauliflower, carrots, potatoes and other spices.
